National Celebration of World Mountain Day at Matale
A celebration programme has conducted at the forest of Knuckles range - matale parallel to the national celebration. World Mountain day in this year had celebrated on the theme of “Bio- diversity of Mountains”. “Sudugala Kanda” at Laggala Knuckles range was hike parallel to the celebration of world mountain day. This celebration had organized by the District Secretariat of matale and Non-Government environmental organizations.
Environmentalist Mr.Gamini Jayatissa, Director of “GAFEC” environmental Organization who addressed the inauguration occasion has stated that few unfortunate facts such as Climatic changes, Non-sustainable farming methods, commercial mine excavations, fall down trees and hunting are being immensely affected for the bio –diversity of the mountain. Further, Mr. jayatissa said that the theme of this international mountain day 2020 was focused on public for make aware and to take steps for stop such reasons.
A team including with officers of District secretariat of Matale and divisional secretariats of Ukuwela and Rattota has participated to this mountain hike and it has hiked about 14 km via sudugala mountain Etanwala Raththinda through Thelgamuwa oya.
Mr.Nishantha Karunathilake, Additional District Secretary of Matale, Mr. Chaminda Amraweera, assistant Director of Disaster Mangement Center of Matale, Mr. Chinthana Ilangasinghe, Divisional Secretary of Naula, Mr. I.M.Illukkumbura, Forest Controller in Matale division and numbers of officers were participated for this event.

Laid Foundation Stone for the chamber of Buddha Image of the
District Secretariat – Matale.
Foundation Stone for construction of new Buddha Image Chamber locate at the new office premises complex, which are being completed work at present has laid today (3) with the prime participation of Mr.S.M.G.K.Perera, District Secretary of Matale. Laying of foundation has commenced on auspicious time that was befall on 9.27 a.m amidst with blessings of chanting Pirith by Ven. Kosgolla Seelarathana Thero, Venerable Chief incumbent of Matale region of Siyam Maha Sect and Hon. Chairman of District Sashanarakshaka Balamandala, Ven.Mahalakotuwe Seelarathana Thero, Venerable Chief incumbent of Matale region of Malwathu Maha Sect together with venerable Maha Sangha who made arrive to this occasion.

A bulk of essential goods including dry rations and medicines which need for the children at 8 of child homes implementing in matale district had been awarded as per the request made by Commissioner of Child probation of Central province in front of the current situation of Covid 19 pandemic.
The Social Foundation called “Karuna Bharaya” (Charity Trust) has done financial donation for this purpose. Conferment had made towards the management of relevant child homes by Mr.S.M.G.k.Perera,District Secretary and Mr. Prasanna Madanayake, Additional District secretary of Matale.

A Bana Summon for the Vesak Full Moon Poya Day
A Bana summon had conducted in today (06) at the auditorium of district secretariat ,matale by giving priority to conducts for commemorate the tri-noble occasions which include the birth, enlighten and passing away of Lord Buddha. Ven. Wimalawansha thero who serves in the district secretariat had preached the Bana summon. A bulk of sanitary safety garments which able to use when treating to the Covid 19 patients had been awarded in 15th June at the District Secretariat of Matale on the contribution of non-government organizations and personal assistance. Mr.S.M.G.K.Perera, District Secretary of Matale had been handed over this sanitary safety garment that worth than rupees 2 lakhs to Mrs.Sepalika Wickramathilake, Health Service Director of Matale district.

Mr.Nishantha Karunatilake assumed duty as Additional District Secretary(Administration).
Mr. Nishantha Karunathilake has assumed duty on 05.05.2020 as Additional District Secretary (Administration). He is an old pupil of St.Thomas Collage – Matale and he obtained Bcom. (Special) degree from University of Sri Jayawardhanapura and achieved the Post Graduate degree regarding Sociology (MA) from University of Kelaniya.
He is a Class I officer of Sri Lanka Administrative Service and Joined to the public service as cooperative inspector and later entered to the Sri Lanka Administrative Service and served as Assistant Secretary of Ibbagamuwa and Pallepola, Assistant Commissioner of Local Government - matale and Divisional Secretary of Naula. Mr. Karunathilake has performed duty as a Senior Assistant Secretary of Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, and Provincial Councils & Local Authority in fields of Administration of Grama Niladhari, Development, and Regional Administration & District Administration as well as Additional Secretary - Development (Covering Duty) of the said Ministry. Also worked in District Secretariat of Kurunegala as the Additional District Secretary (Lands).He is an expertise government officer who has lot of experience that gained through several government institutions.
An active contribution has provided as the divisional secretary of naula for acquiring of lands and resettlements when implementing of Moragahakanda development project which denoted as an important national purpose of Sri Lanka. It was able to achieve the success of receiving 2nd place in national level out of 300 divisional secretariats through the productivity competition organized by National Productivity Secretariat in year 2013 under the guidance of Mr.Nishantha Karunathilake, Former Divisional Secretary of Naula.
Mr.Nishantha Karunathilake who has 20 years of proficiency in public service also followed courses in Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, China and India that relevant to his profession.

Let’s make strength our duties to increase essential services and production section.
Mr.karunasiri Perera, District Secretary of Matale has stated that all of staff officer should be reported for the duty after preparation of a duty mechanism that can be carried out essential services and production section in sturdy manner by following the health habits as the curfew has simplified by the government.
He told this to the officers of district secretariat by addressing them on the early hours of 21st today after the discussion held with His Excellency President Mr.Gotabaya Rajapaksha.
He has instructed to make a system to call minimally 50% of officers to report to the duty by preparing of a duty list to incline everyone for the duty.
He advised to call in more officers who have transport facilities to the office specially by considering the location of the district and officers who unable to reach the office to report their duty to the divisional secretariats.
Mr.Perera, District Secretary of matale told that especially the cellular phones of all the officers should activate in every 24 hours and each and every officers should be dedicated for their twenty four hours service. Officers who call on for essential services should be reported when call on them in any time.

5000 rupees of living allowance has provided for 2927 of diable people who affect due to the Covid - 19 Pandemic occurs in the matale district. 2345 out of them are already receiving the monthly living allowance and 582 out of total were in the waiting list.
Action had been taken to provide this allowance to the homes of relevant beneficiaries by Grama Niladharies and Development Officers of the wasam under the supervision of Divisional Secretaries as per the instruction of Mr.S.M.G.K.Perera, District Sercretary of Matale.

Rs.5000 of elders allowance has provided for 16394 seneior citizens who exceede the age limit of 70 years and less income family groups in the matale district due to the Covid - 19 pandemic. Already it is being paid Rs.2000 for 11812 elders who are in age than 70 years and Action had taken to increese the allowance upto Rs.5000 and to send to their home. Rs. 5000 of allowance has paid for 4582 of persons in the waiting list for the month of April inaddition to the Seneior Citizens who already receive the allowance. Accordingly, Rs. 5000 of allowance has provided 116394 of Seneior Citizens in the Matale District.
Thus, This allowance has also provided for 14 of Seneior Citizens who are than 100 years age in this district.
